Cruise line fined ₹5,000 for dumping sewage in Ganga in Varanasi

The Varanasi district administration imposed a fine of ₹5,000 on Alaknanda Cruise for polluting the Ganga River by dumping sewage, officials said. A committee found that during routine maintenance, sewage flowed from an emergency valve when a staff member used a toilet. The district magistrate directed the cruise management to install a separate tank for the emergency valve.
