Crypto scam led to Iranian attack on Indian ship in Strait of Hormuz

Maritime security firm MARISKS issued an alert, saying scammers are offering fake safe passages via Strait of Hormuz after taking crypto payments and posing as Iranian authorities. One of the two Indian ships that was attacked by Iran had fallen victim to the scam, MARISKS said. Scammers seek documents and "assess eligibility" to give "clearance" to ships in the Strait.
