Cucumbers grown in space to help study root growth

Astronauts aboard the International Space Station have grown cucumbers in space to help scientists understand the process of root growth. With the experiment, the scientists aim to find out which factor is critical for root growth between gravity and water. The experiment found that roots' tendency to seek out higher concentrations of water is more critical than gravity.
