Curfew imposed in Syria's Latakia amid violent nationwide protests

Syrian security forces imposed a curfew on Latakia city, where country's Alawite minority largely resides, days after four people were killed in protests that spiralled into violence, reported local media. The country has witnessed several such protests after its former leader Bashar al-Assad, who hailed from Muslim Alawite community, was ousted last year and replaced by a Sunni-led government.
