Uttar Pradesh has registered the highest number of cases of custodial deaths in the country between October 2015 and September 2016, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has said. While 401 deaths took place in judicial custody, 27 took place in police custody, it added. During the same period, 32,498 complaints were registered against the police, NHRC further stated.
