CV Raman was the 1st Indian to win a Nobel Prize for Science
Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman was the first Indian to receive the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930. He was awarded for his discovery of a new radiation effect on February 28, 1928. The effect, termed as 'Raman effect', is the change in the wavelength of light that occurs when a light beam is deflected by molecules in excited state.
