Dakshina Kannada may be renamed Mangaluru district

The Karnataka Cabinet has begun the process to rename Dakshina Kannada district as Mangaluru district. Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said the government will issue a draft notification and invite public objections and suggestions for one month before taking a final decision. The proposal was discussed during the Cabinet's first meeting in Mangaluru.
