Dalit cook fired for 'wrongful appointment' after students skip food in U'khand

A Dalit woman's appointment as a cook in a government school in Uttarakhand was cancelled on Wednesday. RC Purohit, Chief Education Officer of Champawat district, said, "We found during the inquiry that the principal had failed to follow the norms in the appointment." Notably, most upper caste students had stopped eating meals and started bringing tiffin after Sunita Devi's appointment.
