Dangerous 227-kg World War II bomb defused in Pacific island Nauru

An "armed and dangerous" World War II bomb, weighing 227 kg, was dug up and defused on the Pacific island Nauru on Thursday. Acting President Martin Hunt declared disaster ordering schools to remain closed and urging Nauru's 12,000 residents to stay at home as Australian military specialists worked to defuse the bomb. It was moved to safer location for disposal.
