Data centres could consume 1/5th of US electricity by 2035: Report

Data centres in the US could consume one-fifth of the electricity generated in the country by 2035, four times more than presently, BloombergNEF reported. The report further expects that the surge in AI compute will push data centre capacity to nearly 200 gigawatts over the next decade. Data centres will reportedly create 1,935 terawatt-hours of electricity demand globally by 2033.
