Death penalty awarded in Preeti Rathi acid attack case

A Mumbai Sessions Court on Thursday awarded death penalty to convict Ankur Panwar for committing the murder of Preeti Rathi, a nurse, by throwing acid at her. The ruling comes three years after Rathi was attacked at Mumbai's Bandra station as she had reportedly refused Panwar's marriage proposal. However, the defence had argued that Rathi died due to medical negligence.
