Deep-sea squid mimicking tree spotted 4 km beneath Pacific Ocean
Scientists have captured visuals of a deep-sea squid around 4.1 km below Pacific Ocean's surface. The "muddy squid" displayed "aggressive mimicry", making it look like part of the seafloor. It takes on a tree-like or plant-like appearance as it becomes vertical, helping it camouflage and ambush prey. Scientists also identified a squid believed to belong to Mastigoteuthidae family.
