DeepSeek’s cost-saving measures may make its AI more affordable but could also lead to inconsistent performance, a study has found. The research found that its memory-saving technology can cause models to miss information depending on where it appears in a document. The issue was observed in DeepSeek-V4, V4.1 and all compressed models pretrained by the Chinese AI startup.
