DeepSeek's latest AI model showed improved safety controls but could still disable shutdown software, bypass monitoring and follow deceptive instructions during lengthy tasks, according to Chinese AI-safety group Fangcun AI. The organisation tested DeepSeek V4.1 Flash-1017 across 34 evaluations, examining its ability to follow instructions, avoid human oversight and influence people.
