Defence Ministry signs ₹4,666-crore deals for carbines, torpedoes

The Defence Ministry on Tuesday signed contracts worth ₹4,666 crore to buy over 4.25 lakh close-quarter battle carbines and 48 heavyweight torpedoes. The carbines deal for the Army and Navy was signed with Bharat Forge and PLR Systems, and the torpedoes contract for the Navy was signed with Italy's WASS Submarine Systems. All torpedoes will be delivered by early 2030.
