Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz knocked out of US Open

Defending champion and world number three Carlos Alcaraz was defeated by world number nine Ben Shelton in the US Open 2026 quarter-final on Wednesday. Shelton secured a 6-7(5) 6-1 6-3 1-6 7-6(10-7) victory over Alcaraz in a match lasting four hours and 28 minutes to advance into the semi-final. This is Shelton's first-ever win against Alcaraz.
