Delayed 1st period may signal factors tied to adult health risks: Study

A study presented at ENDO 2026 suggested that later menarche (first menstrual period) may be indicator of childhood influences that increase risk of several adult health problems. The study analysed data from 1,65,832 women and found links between later menarche and 85 adult conditions, including tobacco use disorder and diseases affecting heart, digestive system, bladder, joints and brain.
