Delhi amends fire safety rules for buildings, mandates 18 measures

Following recent tragedies including Malviya Nagar hotel fire, the Delhi government introduced the Delhi Fire Service (Amendment) Rules, 2026. The updated rules mandate 18 specific fire safety measures for buildings based on height and occupancy. Key requirements include fire and smoke barriers, emergency power backups, automatic fire detection and alarm systems and access for fire engines.
