Delhi govt can't force meat shops to shut on Kanwar route: MCD

MCD clarified it has no legal authority under DMC Act, 1957, to force meat shops to shut along Kanwar Yatra routes. This came after Minister Kapil Mishra claimed such closures were jointly decided by Delhi government and MCD. However, the civic body added that in recent years, shopkeepers have "voluntarily chosen" to keep their shops closed out of religious respect.
