Delhi was a step away from becoming police state: Lawyer detained amid CJP protest tells SC

Senior Advocate Shadan Farasat, who was one among thousands detained during CJP protest in Delhi, told the Supreme Court, "The sense I got was that yesterday we were one step away from [becoming] a police state." Citizens' right to protest was destroyed, he said. Supreme Court is hearing a bunch of pleas challenging excessive police crackdown, detentions and transport curbs.
