Delta variant behind surging cases in Portugal's Lisbon area

Portuguese authorities said that the COVID-19 variant first identified in India is driving a spike in new cases in Lisbon metropolitan area. The Delta variant accounts for over 60% of the new cases in the area. In response to the recent surge in coronavirus cases, authorities have banned all travel in and out of Lisbon on the weekends.
