Democrat McBride becomes 1st openly transgender US Congress member

Democrat Sarah McBride has become first openly transgender person to be elected to US House of Representatives, Edison Research said. The 34-year-old state senator won majority votes in Delaware. She became first openly transgender person to serve as state senator when she was elected in 2020, and first to intern at White House in 2012 under former President Barack Obama.
