Desert lit up by 'Sun' at night, locals later realise it was startup testing its tech

The California desert was lit up by a 'Sun' on the night of October 10 as locals witnessed Sierra Nevada mountains awash in light. They realised days later that it was Reflect Orbital testing its satellite-powered 'sunlight-as-a-service' technology, despite not having sent any satellites to space. The startup simply used giant floodlights at an angle, replicating a beam from space.
