Desferal shortage in Delhi puts Thalassaemia patients at risk

A key drug, Desferal used to treat thalassaemia patients, has been missing from leading central and Delhi government hospitals in the Capital for several months, ground investigations by The Tribune have revealed. Thalassaemia, a genetic blood disorder that causes severe anaemia, requires patients to undergo regular blood transfusions along with a life-saving iron chelation therapy.
