Designer of Eiffel Tower had helped build Statue of Liberty

Gustave Eiffel, the designer of Paris' Eiffel Tower, had helped design New York's Statue of Liberty. Born on December 15, 1832, Gustave designed numerous bridges and buildings as well as a private apartment for himself atop the Eiffel Tower. The Statue of Liberty was gifted to the United States by France on the centenary of American independence.
