Dharwad has made major progress in the fight against tuberculosis, with 72 gram panchayats declared TB-free by 2025, up from just two in 2023. The district recorded an 88% treatment success rate and screened over 43,800 people from January to July 2026. Officials credited sustained screening, early detection, treatment and nutritional support.
