World number nine Grigor Dimitrov faked a smash during his match against seventh-ranked Holger Rune at 2024 Monte-Carlo Masters. He raised his racket to hit a smash but dropped the ball near the net to secure the point. Rune won the match with a scoreline of 7-6(9), 3-6, 7-6(2) and will now face Jannik Sinner.
