Dinesh Gunawardena appointed as new Prime Minister of Sri Lanka

Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe on Friday appointed senior politician Dinesh Gunawardena as the new Prime Minister of the country. Wickremesinghe is also expected to appoint his new cabinet today, a day after he was sworn into Sri Lanka's highest office. Earlier, security forces raided the main anti-government protest camp in the capital.
