Diplomatic contact suspended between US & Iran amid rising tensions

Direct contact between senior officials from the US and Iran has been suspended, a senior official ​told Reuters. The development came amid US President Donald Trump's repeated threats to intervene amid Iran's violent crackdown on protesters. Iran has said it would retaliate against American military bases in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Turkey if the US attacks it.
