Direct E20 rollout will make pre-2028 cars unusable: SIAM to govt in 2021 NITI Aayog report

Automakers' industry body SIAM had urged the Centre to ensure E10 petrol remains available during E20 petrol's rollout, NITI Aayog's 2021 'Roadmap for Ethanol Blending in India' report showed. "Discontinuation of E10 fuel...is a critical concern. This will cause...vehicles available by 2028 to be unusable," SIAM said. It noted that E20 fuel's use in incompatible cars may pose safety issues.
