Discoms' dues to power producers down to ₹91,000 cr in March: Govt

The outstanding dues of power distribution companies (discoms) to companies generating power have dipped from ₹1.38 lakh crore to ₹91,061 crore in March, Union Minister for Power RK Singh told Lok Sabha. The coal imports for power generation cannot be reduced to zero as there are several power plants designed to use high calorific value imported coal, he further stated.
