Discord attempts to force users to scan faces on app for age verification, sparks outrage

Discord announced that from early March onwards, the platform will place its accounts into a default "teen-appropriate" experience unless users scan their faces to verify their age. The announcement has triggered outrage over privacy and security concerns. This comes after a recent breach of a third-party vendor exposed 70,000 government ID images with which users had verified their ages.
