Doctors remove 24-week-old 'stone baby' from woman's body in Andhra Pradesh
Doctors at King George Hospital in Andhra Pradesh's Visakhapatnam successfully removed the calcified remains of a 24-week-old foetus from a patient's abdominal cavity. The condition known as 'stone baby' or "lithopedion", is a rare phenomenon which occurs most commonly when a foetus dies during an abdominal pregnancy, is too large to be reabsorbed by the body and subsequently becomes calcified.
