Don't want to sanction friends: Trump as he lifts defence sanctions on Turkiye

President Donald Trump said US is lifting defence sanctions imposed on Turkiye in 2020 for purchasing Russian S-400 air defence systems. "We don't want to sanction friends," said Trump, who's in Turkiye to attend NATO Summit. The sanctions had also halted F-35 fighter jet sales to Turkiye, a resumption of which Trump said would be "something certainly we would consider".
