Vault preserves world's food sources from doomsday scenarios

There is a 'Doomsday' seed vault on a remote Norwegian island about 1,300 kilometres from the North Pole, designed to preserve the world's food sources from global catastrophic scenarios like nuclear war or asteroid strike. The vault claims to be the world's largest collection of crop diversity, housing more than nine lakh seed samples of about every known crop.
