Dr Dilip Mahalanabis, pioneer of oral rehydration therapy, passes away aged 87

Eminent paediatrician Dr Dilip Mahalanabis has passed away at the age of 87, hospital authorities said. He was undergoing treatment for lung infection and other old-age ailments at a private hospital in Kolkata. Dr Mahalanabis was known for pioneering the use of oral rehydration therapy during the outbreak of cholera among refugees of the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War.
