The Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has got its first woman Director General (DG) with the appointment of J Manjula at the post. She assumed charge from Dr KD Nayak as the DG of DRDO's Electronics and Communication Systems cluster. Manjula, who joined DRDO in 1987, has also received 'Performance Excellence' award and 'Scientist of the Year 2011' award.
