The DRI busted an organised gold smuggling and illegal melting racket in Delhi and Kolkata, seizing gold, silver, and cash worth ₹14.13 crore. Six people involved in smuggling, melting, and clandestine sale were arrested. The operation uncovered illegal facilities for defacing foreign-origin gold, and further investigations are ongoing to dismantle the syndicate completely.
