Drugmaker fined ₹681 crore for hiking price by 85,000%

Irish drugmaker Mallinckrodt has been fined ₹681 crore for increasing price of a life-saving medication by as much as 85,000%, and preventing other pharmaceutical firms from developing a similar drug. The price of the drug HP Acthar Gel, used to treat infants of spasms and multiple sclerosis, was slowly increased from ₹2,728 to more than ₹23 lakh for one vial.
