Dutch man now world's longest-surviving heart transplant patient
Bert Janssen from Netherlands has become world's longest-surviving heart transplant patient, having lived for over 39 years since receiving a donor heart. The 57-year-old was diagnosed in 1984 with a disease that makes it harder for the heart to pump blood and received a heart from a car crash victim. "Someone...told me that I...had only...six months left," Janssen recalled.
