Earlier queer characters were used for derogatory humour: Konkona

Actress Konkona Sen Sharma spoke about the conditional inclusion of homosexual characters in Bollywood films. She said, "We often won't have characters in films who are homosexual unless we're dealing with it as an issue...A few decades back, we [were] deriving some...derogatory humour from it." She added, "Our world's peopled by the default...[which is] often straight, male, Hindi-speaking."
