Ebola outbreak spreads across eastern DR Congo, over 1,500 dead

Ebola is spreading rapidly across eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, raising global concerns. More than 3,400 cases and 1,500 deaths have been reported, with a fatality rate of about 45%. The outbreak has spread to five provinces, while health authorities are expanding treatment centres, surveillance and vaccine trials to contain the virus.
