EC bars release of 'Ladki Bahin' instalment ahead of Maha civic body polls

Maharashtra Election Commission has barred the state government from releasing the January instalment of the ‘Ladki Bahin’ scheme ahead of the municipal body elections, citing the enforcement of Model Code of Conduct. Under the scheme, women aged between 21 and 65 receive a financial assistance of ₹1,500 per month. Notably, voting for the elections will take place on January 15.
