EC deploys additional observers in WB ahead of counting day

The Election Commission deployed 165 Additional Counting Observers and 77 Police Observers to assist existing ones in West Bengal ahead of counting of votes on May 4. "[They] have been deployed to ensure that the counting proceedings are conducted in a secure, peaceful, intimidation-free and transparent environment," ECI said. Police Observers are to ensure law and order outside counting centres.
