EC's office in Kolkata evacuated amid earthquake tremors

The Election Commission's office in Kolkata was evacuated after strong tremors were felt across the city following a massive 5.3-magnitude earthquake in West Bengal. The earthquake struck around 1:22 pm with its epicentre located 26 km southeast of West Bengal's Taki, according to the USGS. The state is expected to go to the polls in April-May 2026.
