Egg, meat and fish prices see sharpest monthly rise in five months

Despite headline retail inflation staying near the RBI's 4% target, prices of eggs, meat and fish rose 1.35% in June from May, marking their sharpest monthly increase in five months, as per a Moneycontrol analysis. Overall food inflation climbed to 5.22% year-on-year from 4.66% in May. Chicken inflation remained high at 10.83% year-on-year, adding pressure on household budgets.
