Egypt bans female students from wearing niqab in schools

Egypt has banned female students from wearing niqab, which is a face veil worn by Muslim women, in schools. Egyptian Education Minister Reda Hegazy said female students will still have the right to choose to wear the headscarf, adding that the decision will be effective from September 30. Separately, France has banned female students from wearing abaya in state schools.
