Einstein offered Nobel Prize money in divorce before winning

Theoretical physicist Albert Einstein offered the Nobel Prize money to his wife Mileva Maric as part of a divorce settlement in 1919, before he even won the prize. He was later awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1921 "for his services to Theoretical Physics, and especially for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect".
