Elephants may use medicinal plants to treat themselves, study finds

Researchers found evidence suggesting that wild African elephants around Mount Elgon in Kenya use medicinal plants to treat themselves when unwell. Local experts also observed mother elephants mixing certain plants with their milk before giving them to calves. Elephants "may" intentionally seek medicinal plants rather than foraging randomly, but more evidence is needed to establish this.
