'Emergency alert: Severe' flashes on people's phones during govt test

Several people across the country received a flash on their phones from the government at around 1:30 pm on Thursday, that read, "Emergency alert: Severe". The message was sent by the government to test Pan-India Emergency Alert System being implemented by National Disaster Management Authority. The government is conducting such tests for a system to provide timely alerts during emergencies.
